Radsport:; Philippe Gilbert gewinnt die 1. Etappe der Tour de France

Ohne Prolog ging die Tour heute gleich auf eine anspruchsvolle erste Etappe. 191,5 km lang war der Weg von Passage du Gois nach Mont des Alouettes.
Die ersten 104 km waren flach, danach wurde es hüglig und gepfelte in einem Schlussanstieg der immerhin auch als Bergwertung der Kategorie 4 eingestuft wurde. Gleich nach dem Start bliesen die ersten Fahrer zum Angriff. Pierrig Quemeneur, Jérémy Roy (beide Frankreich) und Lieuwe Westra (Niederlande) setzten sich sofort ab und schafften es auf einen Vorsprung von bis zu 5:15 min. Jérémy Roy holte sich die Sprintwertung. 53. km vor dem Ziel einer der zahlreichen Stürze am heutigen Tag. Unter anderem mit involviert war Linus Gerdemann. 20 km vor dem Ziel wurden die Ausreißer eingefangen. 9 Kilometer vor dem Ziel dann ein Massensturz bei dem auch Alberto Contador involviert war und schon heute wertvolle Sekunden verlor. Den Schlussspurt zog Fabian Cancellara ab, aber Philippe Gilbert (BEL/Omega Pharma-Lotto) konterte und gewann die Etappe vor Cadel Evans (AUS/BMC) und Thor Hushovd (NOR/Garmin).
Auch die deutschen Hoffnungen haben sich vorn gezeigt. Andreas Klöden (Radioshack) wurde Siebter, Tony Martin (Highroad) Zehnter und Linus Gerdemann (Leopard-Trek) Elfter. Alberto Contador kommt am Ende mit 1:20 min Rückstand ins Ziel.
