Leichtathletik: Bolt schlägt Powell in Rom

Beim Diamond League-Meeting in Rom verpasste Usain Bolt (JAM) über 100 m in 9,91 s nur knapp die Weltjahresbestleistung seines Landsmannes Steve Mullings (9,89). Bolt bezwang mit 2/100 s seinen Landsmann Asafa Powell.
Im Stabhochsprung kam Malte Mohr auf 5,72 m und wurde hinter dem Franzosen Renaud Lavillenie (5,82) Zweiter. Raphael Holzdeppe und Tim Lobinger kamen nur auf 5,42 m und wurden jeweils Fünfter.
Auch die Damen des DLV konnten sich über eine Silbermedaille freuen, wobei Christina Obergföll bestimmt lieber gewonnen hätte. Mit 63,97 m musste die Speerwerferin aber der Russin Maria Abakumowa (65,40 m) den Vortritt lassen. Linda Stahl wurde mit 58,65 m Neunte.
