Der siebte Lauf zur MotoGP fand heute in Assen/NL statt. In der MotoGP gewann zum ersten Mal in dieser Saison Ben Spies (USA) ein Rennen. Der Yamaha-Pilot gewann vor Casey Stoner (AUS), der damit in der WM seine Führung ausbaute. Andrea Dovizioso und Valentino Rossi (beide Italien) folgten auf den Plätzen.
In der WM folgen Stoner (136 P.) Jorge Lorenzo (E/108), der heute nach einem Sturz hinter Nicky Haiden (USA) Sechster wurde, Andrea Dovizioso (99) und Valentino Rossi (81).
In der Moto2 ist Stefan Bradl nach einem Sturz ausgeschieden. Bleibt aber in der Gesamtwertung weiter klar auf Platz 1. Der Sieg ging an den Spanier Marc Marquez, der den Türken Kenan Sofuoglu auf den zweiten Platz verwies. Für den Suter-Piloten war es der erste Podiumsplatz in der Moto2. Dritter wurde Bradley Smith (UK). Der bisher ärgste Verfolger von Stefan Bradl, Simone Corsi (I), konnte vom Ausfall des Deutschen nicht profitieren und wurde nur 14.
