Sebastian Vettel hat im achten Rennen den sechsten Sieg der Saison gelandet. Auch in Valencia war der Red Bull-Pilot nicht zu stoppen und gewann souverän vor Fernando Alonso (Ferrari) und Mark Webber (Red Bull). Lewis Hamilton (McLaren) wurde Vierter, dahinter platzierten sich Felipe Massa (Ferrari), Jenson Button (McLaren).
Zweitbester Deutscher wurde Nico Rosberg, der seinen Mercedes auf Platz 7 fuhr und die Silberpfeile als vierte Kraft der Formel 1 bestätigte. Teamkollege Michael Schumacher kollidierte schon im ersten Drittel des Rennens mit Vitaly Petrov (Lotus-Renault) und musste sich einen neuen Frontflügel holen. Dadurch fiel der Rekordweltmeister weit zurück und kam nur auf Platz 17.
In die Punkte fuhren Adrian Sutil (Force India/9.) und Nick Heidfeld (Lotus-Renault/10.). Timo Glock wurde 21.
In der WM führt Sebastian Vettel mit 186 Punkten vor Jenson Button, Mark Webber (je 109), Lewis Hamilton (97) und Fernando Alonso (87).
