Am Sonntag beginnt die Frauen-Fußball-WM. Da wird es Zeit mal auf die Teilnehmer und ihre Chancen zu schauen. Beginnen wir heute mit der Gruppe A.
Favorit der Gruppe und wohl auch der ganzen WM ist natürlich der Gastgeber. Die Deutschen zeigten in den Vorbereitungsspielen gute Spiele und gewannen alle ohne Gegentor. 15:0 Tore erzielten die Deutschen in den vier Spielen. Trotzdem gibt es einige Schwachpunkte in der Mannschaft: Die Innenverteidigung wirkte nicht immer sehr sicher und zumindest gegen Norwegen (3:0) kam die deutsche Offensive erst in der zweiten Halbzeit auf Touren. Die Norwegerinnen zeigten zumindest, wie man den Deutschen begegnen kann. Hinten sicher stehen und dann mit schnellen Kontern in 1:1-Situationen kommen. Aber selbst dann wird es schwer die Mannschaft von Trainer Silvia Neid zu schlagen. Der Weltranglisten-Zweite hat eine unglaubliche Kondition. Die Chancen auf den Titel-Hattrick stehen also nicht schlecht, aber es gibt auch noch andere Titelanwärter.
Interessant ist dass im 21er-Kader des Titelverteidigers nur zwei Spielerinnen vom Meister und Champions League-Finalisten Turbine Potsdam stehen. Das Gros der Spielerinnen kommt vom 1. FFC Frankfurt oder von FCR Duisburg.
Kanada wird von einigen Experten als Außenseiter der Gruppe gewertet. Das darf man getrost als Untertreibung werten. Nicht umsonst steht die Mannschaft in der Weltrangliste auf Platz 6. Hinzu kommt, dass die Kanadierinnen im Herbst letzten Jahres Nord-/Mittelamerika-Meister wurden. Im Finale gewannen die Kanadierinnen gegen Mexiko, das zuvor die USA ausschaltete, 1:0. Bei der letzten WM schieden die Kanadierinnen schon in der ersten Runde aus. Vor der WM bestritten die Nordamerikanerinnen sechs Freundschaftspiele, bei denen sie immer besser in Form kamen. Einem 0:1 gegen Schweden folgen ein 1:1 und ein 2:1 gegen die Schweiz. Die Niederlande (2;0) und Ungarn (1:0) waren sicher keine wirklichen Gradmesser, aber das 2:0 gegen Nordkorea zeigte schon, dass die Kanadierinnen Diesmal eine Chance haben könnten, in das Viertelfinale einzuziehen.
Die Kanadierinnen haben iihre Stärken vor allem in der Defensive, verfügen aber mit Christine Sinclair auch eine sehr gefährliche Stürmerin.
Frankreich dürfte mit Kanada um Platz zwei der Gruppe A kämpfen. Die Französinnen gewannen in der Qualifikation mit 10 Siegen und 50:0 Toren klar. Nur gegen Island war es ein bisschen spannend. Besonders in Reykjavik, wo die Französinnen nur 1:0 gewannen. Torschützin war Gaëtane Thiney. Die Playoffs gegen Italien waren dann schon etwas schwerer. Im Heimspiel gab es nur ein 0:0, Gubbio (I) gewannen die Französinnen dann 3:2.
Die Französinnen, die auf in der FIFA-Weltrangliste auf Platz 7 geführt werden, haben eine durchwachsene Vorbereitung gespielt. Einem 1:1 gegen Schottland folgte ein 2:1 in Belgien. Die Generalprobe, die erneut gegen die Belgierinnen absolviert wurde gewannen die Damen aus der Grande Nation dann aber klar 7:0.
Das Herzstück der Mannschaft kommt von Champions League-Sieger Olympique Lyon. 10 Spielerinnen stammen vom französischen Meister.
Nigeria liegt in der Weltrangliste auf Platz 27. In Afrika ist das Team die klare Nummer 1. Das Finale der Qualifikation wurde gegen Ghana 1:0 gewonnen, im Halbfinale gab es ein glattes 5:0 gegen Kamerun. Für den sechsfachen Afrikameister wird es die fünfte WM-Teilnahme sein. Die Stärken liegen besonders im Angriff, wo Stella Mbachu und Perpetua Nkwocha für ständige Gefahr sorgen.
In der Gruppe A dürften die Nigerianerinnen klare Außenseiterinnen sein. Dafür sprechen auch die Vorbereitungsspiele. Gegen Argentinien wurde zwar 4:1 gewonnen, aber gegen die Weltranglisten-110, Äthiopien reiche es nur zu einem 2:2.
Und so könnte die Gruppe A am Ende wie folgt aussehen:

Am Sonntag kann man sich dann den ersten Eindruck von den Teams machen. Denn gibt es am 1. Spieltag folgende Begegnungen:
